The 6th grade class trip for a week in Washington
DC is "one of the greatest field trips ever". About 70 kids
and 30 adults had a fabulously exhausting time touring our nation's
capitol. Take a look at some of the photos and some of the kids comments
about this great trip. Click here to see a complete photo
album.
My highlight of this week is when I went to the White
House. The best part of it was when...I saw a motorcade carrying
President Bush! It was an amazing sight to see our country's President
waving at us!!!
My highlight of last week was going up
to the top of Washington Monument. I found it interesting that
you can look out at the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial,
the White House and the Capitol Building. I think that is the best
view you can have of Washington D.C.
My favorite part of the trip was going
to the Senate and House of Representatives voting rooms. It
was cool to see them working. Especially when they were talking to
the head chief saying why this law shouldn't pass.
The Rotunda was much more beautiful than I expected.
I thought that seeing the
Korean War Memorial was the best. It was moving to see the
19 soldiers across the rice paddies, the writing, the waterfall, and
the engraved faces, all honoring the 62,000 people that died during
those three years of battling North Korea.
There was a wreath with a Korean flag on it. On that wreath were 2
pieces of cloth with the Korean President's name on it. I felt very
proud!
The highlight of my trip to D.C. was in Arlington National Cemetery.
It was beautiful even in the rain! I got to lay the wreath on the
Tomb of the Unknowns. I was honored and felt proud to be an American!
My favorite part was the eternal flame. I liked it best because
it burned even if it rained and I wondered how it burned.
My highlight of Washington D.C. was visiting the Smithsonian
Museums. There I saw an exhibition of 9/11 and found out about
the bold and patriotic Americans and their courage. I really didn't
know about it this deeply before.
